FOR CHILDREN

‘SINGTHINGS’( i.e. short musical plays and stories)

For Children of Nursery and Primary School age to about 7 years.

Singthings are stories with a simple moral told in song and speech about the adventures experienced by animals, creatures and insects etc.

Each Singthing, if performed as a play, has one principal and a number of sub-principal characters, a narrator and, of course, a chorus which can generally be of any number depending upon the number of children available and the size of the accommodation in which the Singthing  is to be performed.

At the present time the Singthing available for examination as a musical plays is from the series, 'The Adventures of Dillon Dinosaur' and is entitled, 'Dillon Dinosaur The Super Hero'

The adventure lasts for about 20 minutes, has 7 characters with speaking parts, a narrator and a chorus.

Story Telling with songs by Peter Barratt

'Singthings' are also told as stories with music by Peter Barratt, who is a former teacher, to children in Primary Schools, at Festivals, Art Centres and other establishments. Details of the stories and songs from the four series that are presently included in his story telling repertoire are set out on the Children's Page.

Books

BaBa Productions published in August 2005 two books for children based on the Singthings of Peter Barratt about the adventures of Cyril The Squirrel and Dillon Dinosaur entitled Cyril The Squirrel Goes To The Fair and Dillon Dinosaur Starts A Pop Group. The availability of the books at a retail selling price of £3.00 has been publicised in the magazine Publishing News and various newspapers in the region of the Tees Valley. When Dillon Dinosaur's computer breaks down, he and his friends 

(an armadillo, a mammoth and a hyperodapedon) can't find anything to do, until they decide to form their own band.

Cyril The Squirrel Goes To The Fair

With a few encouraging words, Cyril helps his best friend Cindy Cat overcome her fear of heights 

when they go on the helter skelter at the fair - and she enjoys it so much, she asks to have another go.
